What is an Airline Appointed Travel Agency?
An IATAN Airline Appointed Travel Agency is one that holds ticket stock, or is capable of e-ticketing and is engaged in the sale of air transportation.
How can I request an application kit for the program that I have chosen?
Whether you are applying for a Head Office or a Branch Office location, you may request an endorsement kit for either program at IATAN's Website or through IATAN's FaxBack® Service. (Application Kit Order Form for IATAN Endorsement Programs)
Does IATAN have certain guidelines or standards to become approved?
Please review "Standards for IATAN Endorsement", to see if your travel agency will meet all criteria.
How can I promote my IATAN endorsement?
You can promote your IATAN endorsement by using the IATAN logo on your Website or when placing an advertisement, as well as putting your IATAN decal on a window or door.

Do the airlines have their own requirements?
Yes. Each airline sets its own standards for appointing travel agencies which IATAN administers on their behalf
Which airlines will I be able to ticket on?
If you meet the individual standards of IATAN's customer airlines, IATAN executes an Agency Agreement with the applicant on behalf of all the airlines listed on the Certificate of Appointment.
Does IATAN set commission levels?
IATAN does not set commission levels. The rate of commission is set between the individual agency and each airline.
Does IATAN need to be notified when there is a change of location and/or name to the agency?
Yes. As per your initial endorsement and signed Agency Agreement with IATAN, you agreed to promptly notify IATAN in writing of any changes. Documents needed to report a change of name and/or location can be retrieved from IATAN's Website or FaxBack® Service. Please note it is free of charge to update this information.
(Agency Amendment Form)
What about reporting a change of ownership?
Prior to reporting your change of ownership, please retrieve Change of Ownership Categories & Guidelines - Airline Appointed Program from IATAN's Website or FaxBack® Service, which explains IATAN's three categories of Change of Ownership. These categories apply to the existing agency entity. You will also need to retrieve a Joint Notice of Change Form to be completed and returned to IATAN by fax at 1-514-868-8858.
How does IATAN maintain up-to-date information on our agency's ongoing changes?
IATAN maintains the accuracy of agency changes through our Re-certification Program. When you receive your annual Re-certification Package, please validate your current agency information. There are no fees to record any change except those that involve changes of ownership.
(IATAN's Re-certification Program)
Under what circumstance could my agency be terminated and is there a document that lists all circumstances?
Your signed Agency Agreement with IATAN details the circumstances for termination, most notably when:
- The airline, or IATAN acting on its behalf, gives the travel agency written notice.
- The travel agency requests voluntary closure in writing. Please use the Agency Amendment Form.
- The travel agency does not continue to maintain minimum endorsement standards with IATAN. Please review Standards for IATAN Endorsement.
- The agency fails to pay the annual fees.
If a travel agency disputes the basis for termination, it has recourse through the Travel Agency Commissioner.
